The other day I was talking to a fellow online entrepreneur and industry colleague that I met during the Online Business Manager certification. She made me realise how many things launching and having babies have in common.
1. When you have your first baby everything is new to you.
Absolutely everything. So you ask your friends, mother, health visitor, etc for advice at every step. Or you join mum groups to learn from those who have already been through this experience. You may even read books.
It’s the same with your first launch. Everything is completely new to you. You read books, follow launch experts, sign up for launch freebies, maybe you even get lucky and watch someone live launch. Whatever way you choose to learn about launches, it’s still scary and overwhelming because it’s new. And you kind of try it all at once….
I remember when I had Olivia, the first year was fairly hard. There were times when I doubted myself as a mother. I started to relax more when I shut off the outside noise, the well-meaning advice that wasn’t aligning with my values.
Same with launching…following too many launch experts at once, trying different formulas just to see which one may work for you…this is just creating more frustration and stress for you.
2. But when you run your second launch, or third, fourth, etc, things start to ease.
Just like having your second, third baby etc. You already have a good idea about what you are doing. You have learned from your previous experience and you know what you want to repeat and what you don’t. You know how to hold your newborn now, you know how to wash them, how to feed them, etc. Same with launching. You might not realise it, but you have a little more confidence in yourself starting with your second launch, regardless of how your first one went, because you know more than you did before. You have data to work with. You have Personal Experience!
Remember when I said that I started to relax about being a new mum when I shut off the noise and followed my intuition?
That changed everything for me. I only asked for advice from a couple of mothers that I trusted and who had similar values to me. I would only go into a FB group when I had a specific question that was less common, and even then it would only be a group that I carefully selected.
Similarly in launching, you want to get guidance from someone whose values match yours. You want to learn from someone with experience. And very important, you must use your intuition! Every human and every business is different. But when you allow your intuition to work alongside you and your coach or launch strategist, magic unfolds.
And the more you launch, the easier it gets.
My recommendation to you today is to relaunch the same course or program until you are happy with the results, until you feel you have created your own formula, and then start thinking about developing a new product in your business.
The reason for this is that split energy equals split results.
When you’re still figuring out how to make your current launch easy and profitable, and at the same time you are creating and marketing something new, it’s a lot more difficult, and stressful to focus on both. They are competing for your time and energy. And that is a sure path to burnout and likely financial loss in the medium to long run.
Learn to walk before you run, my beautiful soul-led entrepreneur. Life, and launching, are a marathon, not a sprint.
To your launch success!
